About
Nestled in the heart of Seattle's Denny Triangle, Market House Meats has been a cherished culinary gem since 1948. This deli showcases a mouthwatering array of sandwiches that pay homage to the art of comfort food. As a food reviewer for Foodjoyy, I’m excited to introduce you to a place where hearty meals meet an inviting atmosphere.
Market House Meats is accessible and accommodating, featuring services that include delivery, takeout, and even catering. It welcomes diners with disabilities and offers a casual setting that is perfect for groups and families alike. The restaurant also embraces the modern dining experience, accepting Android Pay, Apple Pay, and even cryptocurrency.
At Market House Meats, the star of the show is undoubtedly their sandwiches. While the menu boasts an impressive lineup, I found the Reuben and the corned beef sandwich to be standout options. The Reuben, traditionally served on marbled rye bread, is grilled to perfection, and brings together layers of flavor that transport you to deli heaven. Complemented by house-made horseradish and a side of potato salad, it’s a meal that warms the soul.
Customers have consistently praised the quality of the food and the relentless dedication of the staff. One satisfied diner, Julie N., aptly captured the essence of the place, stating, “Quintessential example of don’t judge a book by its cover.” Such sentiments reflect the authenticity and hard work that permeates the atmosphere.
Market House Meats goes beyond just exceptional sandwiches by also offering a delightful range of breakfast options, including meat-stuffed breakfast sandwiches and the hearty jumbo breakfast burrito, ensuring there's something for everyone, any time of day.
Given its central location and the delightful offering of goodies—along with hearty beers and wines—it’s a fantastic spot for lunch or an afternoon respite with friends. The relaxed noise level makes it conducive for conversation, and the presence of free Wi-Fi only adds to its appeal, making it a great destination for both casual and business gatherings.
If you’re in Seattle and searching for a place that honors the legacy of traditional delis while providing modern conveniences, Market House Meats is a must-visit. Come for the sandwiches, stay for the nostalgia, and leave with a full belly and a promise to return.
“ Quintessential example of don't judge a book by its cover. We had a great meal here sitting at the window - three enormous "today's special" sandwiches and fantastic fries. Hosts could not be nicer or work harder. Take my money! We'll definitely be back. ”
“ Visiting seattle and tried this place on a whim. i loved it, everything from the food, to the service, it was perfect. the corn beef sandwich was the best ive had ”
“ I love eating at legacy restaurants and MHM did not disappoint. I had the Reuben and the split pea soup. I can't say it was the best resident I have ever had, but it was pretty damn good! Their weakness is the bread. If you've ever eaten at Langer's in LA, they ship in par-baked rye from NYC and it wakes all the difference. Pea soup was more brothy and potato laden than other pea soups. Really nice, especially on a cold day. ”
“ I often pass Market House Meats and wonder why I haven't stopped in more often. This time, I made the stop and it was worth it. The place occupies a well traveled corner in the Denny Triangle neighborhood very close to I-5 and has been in business since 1948. The heavy grease on the outside fan vents on the East side of the building speak volumes of Market House Meats focus and longevity. When entering, the first thing that caught my eye was the enormous menu on the back wall offering the classics such as the Reuben, Corned Beef, BBQ Brisket, Pastrami, etc. I would love to one day try each of these but for now I cannot resist their incredible Reuben. As I was enjoying my Reuben at the counter facing a window, I looked at Yelp and realized I had written a review of this place about 9 years ago! The one picture I posted was the exact copy of my meal today! I even took a similar picture today that shows the identical sides that come with the Reuben. This place really doesn't change and that's a good thing when they do something well. The grilled Reuben was served in sturdy partitioned container with potato salad, a dill pickle spear, real horseradish and an Oreo style cookie. The bread was the traditional marbled rye and grilled perfectly. It was very good. The potato salad was a nice change from the juxtaposition of flavors presented in the classic Reuben. The staff were nice and I heard them call out some of the regular customers' names. This place would fit in nicely in any old school metro city in the East coast. Along with a the Reuben and a bottle of Diet Dr Pepper, my meal was complete. The bill with tip was over $32 so that's likely why I don't come here more often. Too bad about the high prices but definitely worth a stop once in awhile. ”
“ Absolutely the best I've had in Seattle (and yes I've had them at New York delis!). My Reuben was just perfect and my friend raved about his corned beef. The fresh horseradish will clear your sinuses immediately. I'll be back, must check out the pastrami next time!! ”
“ Meat-a-tarian Heaven! I ordered 3 Ruben sandwiches! 2 Regular and 1 no bread on salad! Home run hit at work with boss & co-workers! The food is as AMAZING as the pictures are! ”
“ What a Gem. This is my second time in 3 days having it. And I wish I woulda had it a third time. If you're ever in the area it's a must have, and even calling it a must have is an understatement. Next time I'm in Seattle. I'll be back for a few more lol. Order it as is make no changes and trust the process. ”
“ Good reuben sandwich!! I've always enjoyed a good corned beef or pastrami sandwich and this one is a good Seattle one! I have always passed by this spot on my way to the gym and always have the craving for it on a Sunday when they're closed :) Today I stopped by on a Saturday for a bite! I was a little turned off by the pricing, since its over $20 for a sandwich! But, I will say after having it, it's definitely one that will sit in your stomach for a good while as they pack in the meat! They were not stingy with it! I also liked the potato salad side which was a nice complement to it. Service was super quick too. It's a small shop diner which I do appreciate for its old school feel, I just wish they had better ventilation as all your clothes end up smelling like the griddle. Overall, I won't compare it to a Katz or other NYC staple, but for a local Seattle spot... stop by if you're craving a reuben! ”
“ yummy and fast. always come here for my lunch breaks in slu. they give you potato salad and pickles on the side for free and i love their pastrami dip! service is good too, always nice and chill environment. reminds me of nyc delis. ”
“ Wow this place is amazing! A hidden gem on minor street! The service is incredible!!! It was super busy and even with almost every seat taken the counter server knew exactly who needed to pay and who needed to be served ALL by memory! I swear he didn't write a single thing down! I enjoyed a breakfast sandwich loaded up with multiple proteins. Was soooo delicious! Will def come back for lunch! ”
